Trucking industry, safety advocates call for improved highway safety
Thunder Bay - The Ontario Trucking Association and transportation industry safety advocates believe that improving driver training and licensing for transport drivers, improving roadside facilities in Northern Ontario, and upgrading the highways themselves would help reduce collisions on northern highways. During the ongoing Ontario election campaign, highway safety issues in Northern Ontario have been raised multiple times. This winter alone, there have been multiple traffic-related collisions and other incidents in the Northwest, at least three of which resulted in fatalities. New language test requirements 
Many programs no longer eligible. New rules: For students who submitted their study permit application before November 1, 2024: If you apply for PGWP on or after November 1, 2024, you must meet the new language test requirements: Bachelor's, master's, and doctoral graduates: English CLB7 or French NCLC7. Other university programs (e.g., diploma): English CLB7 or French NCLC7. College programs: English CLB5 or French NCLC5. Note: Language test results must be within the last 2 years! November 1, 2024
