The boat show continues after more than 30 years

Thunder Bay - The 37th annual Boat Show kicked off Thursday in the CLE grounds' gymnasium building.

Norm's Boating Centre, North Country Cycle and Sports, Halfway Power Sports, and Wally's Thunder Country Diving were all present at the show. This year's boat show featured water sports for the first time.

"We have 48 items on display, including boats, pontoon boats, jet skis, wakeboards, ATVs, and some snowmobiles," said Norm Willis, owner of Norm's Boating Centre.

Willis, who has attended all 37 boat shows, said he missed one due to the pandemic, but otherwise people look forward to it every year.

"Now is the best time to buy because everyone has great discounts. There is some non-current inventory, and we may be looking at upcoming new tariffs, so now is the best time to buy," Willis said.

Willis said he encourages people to come see the boat show, which will run all weekend.

"Also, if they want something we don't have, manufacturers have time to produce it so it can be available by spring."

The boat show will run until 8 p.m. Thursday, from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
