ECE 24Fall Course Reviews [Like and bookmark, continuously updated]

ESOF-5052: Big Data & Machine Learning, the course content is fairly basic, with a quiz every class that counts as attendance, but you can make it up with classmates later. Midterm requires submitting one quiz, and the final requires submitting one quiz. The final exam covers a lot of content and has a large weight, involving conceptual and memorization parts, as well as in-class quiz content. The course includes a project that can be done in teams, consisting of report + presentation + code, completed in 4 stages throughout the semester. Each stage requires updating the report and code, and at the end there is a full presentation. Grading is average, neither good nor bad, and difficulty is moderate.

EELE-5231: Computer Architecture, very few people take it, only 6 in the class. The professor's English is hard to understand, so self-study is needed. There are 2 midterms + 1 final + 1 project, no lab (actually you have to register for a lab, but there are no lab classes). Before exams, sample questions are given, and the exams are basically the same as the sample questions with minor changes, so just review the sample questions. The harder part is the final project, which requires self-learning Verilog and Quartus software to implement a pipelined processor. Basically, code found on GitHub is more complex than what the professor requires, so you need to understand it and simplify it. It can be done in teams, and there is a presentation for the project at the end. Because it's difficult and few people take it, grading is generous, and in the end it feels like the scores were curved.
