Lakehead Engineering Course Review: EVIC5013
Subject: Communication and Research Methods. Required for Engineering majors. The professor is a stubborn old man. The course content is mainly about academic writing. Students who haven't done research before should still listen carefully, because basically every Engineering course has a requirement to write short papers. Classroom: There are many rules in class. All electronic devices are banned (you'll be asked to leave the classroom, don't ask me how I know...). Attendance is taken every class and counts for a large 30%. Assignments: He'll have you watch YouTube videos he uploads and hand-copy notes.

ECE course selection review
[EELE-5332 Parallel Computing] I've attended one class so far, and it's basically this professor's usual style: 2 midterms (12.5% each), 1 final exam (35%), 1 big project (30%) that can be done in a group, and several course assignments (10%). Compared to Computer Architecture, there's no lab component or lab assignments. The professor's spoken English is a bit hard to understand, so self-study is necessary. Personal review: the course content is worth taking, but it's not an easy course; it requires a significant time commitment.

Subject: Engineering Optimization & AI. An introductory course on optimization algorithms and machine learning, touching the surface only. There are just four or five algorithms in total, and the overall difficulty is not high. The professor grades leniently. There is no midterm; Assignments and Project each account for 25%, and the Final is 50%. Lakehead Civil Engineering course review for 24Fall EVIC5390
Computer Applications in Traffic Engineering. The core content is the design of intersection traffic light timing to improve traffic efficiency.
