Thunder Bay police arrest 2, seize loaded shotgun and fentanyl
Thunder Bay - Thunder Bay police say two people have been arrested and charged as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking. According to a news release, police stopped and searched a male suspect and a vehicle in the 100 block of Shuniah Street at around 2 p.m. on Thursday. Police say they found a quantity of suspected fentanyl, $3,300 in cash, and other items related to drug trafficking. During a separate search of a residence on Redwood Avenue, police allegedly found a loaded shotgun with its serial number removed, along with other items related to drug trafficking. Police say a female suspect has been arrested.

Thunder Bay -- The Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay is looking for community members to provide alternative care. CAS held an alternative care information open house and job fair on Thursday. Dana Leeder, service supervisor at the Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay, said alternative care, formerly known as foster care, is quite different from what most people imagine. "We are looking for people who can provide emergency respite services, full-time care, or part-time alternative care. We also place a strong emphasis on the home model, so we are looking for interested community caregivers who can live in homes where we provide rent and food subsidies," Leeder said.

Fire destroys north-side roof
Thunder Bay - A fire broke out at a residence on Rice Street Monday evening. Firefighters were called to a home on the city's north side at around 6:16 p.m. All occupants had evacuated the home by the time firefighters arrived on scene. The first arriving crews found smoke and flames had already burned through the roof of the single-storey residence. Police initially applied water to the building from the exterior, then launched an interior attack and conducted a search of the building.
