Thunder Bay police arrest 2, seize loaded shotgun and fentanyl

Thunder Bay - Thunder Bay Police say two people have been arrested and charged as part of an investigation into alleged drug trafficking.

According to a news release, police stopped and searched a male suspect and a vehicle in the 100 block of Shuniah Street at around 2 p.m. on Thursday. Police say they found a quantity of suspected fentanyl, $3,300 in cash, and other items related to drug trafficking.

During a separate search of a residence on Redwood Avenue, police allegedly found a loaded shotgun with its serial number removed, along with other items related to drug trafficking. Police say a female suspect was arrested.

Police say they obtained warrants for both searches.

A 27-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman are each facing multiple firearms charges, including tampering with a firearm serial number. The man is also charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking.

Police say both appeared in court early Friday and remain in custody.
