Part of Carrick Street closed due to flooding

Thunder Bay - According to the City of Thunder Bay, a section of Carrick Street is closed due to flooding.

In a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, the city said the street between 11th Avenue and Hewitson Street is closed due to "flooding and ice in the culvert."

The city says Harbour Expressway, which intersects with Carrick Street, remains open.

The city's announcement said: "The road will be closed until further notice, and staff will work to resolve the issue and ensure public safety. Drivers are advised to plan alternate routes and drive with caution in the area."

The city said that a work crew has arrived on site to clear the ice jam and improve the drainage system.
