One person detained after weapons alert Friday morning

Thunder Bay Police confirm one person was taken into custody Friday morning following a weapons call in the north end.

Police say they were called to an address in the 100 block of Cumberland Street South at around 9 a.m.

Before 9:30 a.m., roughly a dozen police cruisers were in the Andras Court area, with officers armed and at the ready. Meanwhile, two ambulances blocked the front of the building at the intersection of Wilson Street and Cumberland Street South.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and officers remain on scene.

Police say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
