Algoma and McIntyre intersection closed for one month

Starting May 5, the city will begin a roughly one-month sewer system upgrade project in the area of Algoma and McIntyre Streets. The project aims to separate storm and sanitary sewers to reduce combined sewer overflows, in line with the city's Pollution Prevention and Control Plan (PPCP). The work will be carried out in three phases, involving closures on Algoma Street (from Van Horne to Angus) and McIntyre Street (from Court to Ruttan). Although various detour routes will be set up during construction, access to residential homes will be maintained as much as possible. In addition, on Wednesday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hazelwood Drive will be closed for emergency repairs due to damage to a culvert approximately 300 meters from the Melbourne Road intersection. During the repairs, Hazelwood Drive will be closed to traffic, but local residents will be able to pass up to the closure point. The city advises other vehicles to choose alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion.
