Thunder Bay airport to raise short-term parking fees

[Thunder Bay] Thunder Bay International Airports Authority announced that, effective November 1, short-term parking fees at the airport will increase by 50%, from $2 per hour to $3 per hour; the daily maximum will also be adjusted from $20 to $22. The airport stated that the revenue from the increase will be used for the expansion and upgrade of parking facilities.

It was noted that the airport is advancing a parking lot project totaling approximately $4.5 million, scheduled for completion by the end of October, which includes adding about 200 parking spaces and widening existing spaces to improve traffic flow and safety. Jackie MacDonald, the airport's manager of business development and revenue management, stated that this upgrade responds to the continued growth in passenger demand and is a "necessary" measure to maintain service standards.
