Driver with suspended licence charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving

Thunder Bay - A man faces multiple charges, including dangerous driving and impaired driving, following an incident in Thunder Bay on Monday afternoon.

Police say a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service's traffic unit was on patrol when they observed a vehicle travelling more than 70 km/h in a community safety zone where the posted speed limit is 40 km/h.

They then followed the same vehicle, which was observed travelling nearly 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

When police stopped the vehicle, the identification provided by the driver ultimately turned out to be false.

After confirming his identity, police learned he was wanted and subject to six separate driving prohibitions.

The 30-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges, including breach of probation, and was held in custody following his first court appearance.

The vehicle he was driving will also be impounded for 45 days.
