In one line: the recommendation certificate is valid for 6 months and cannot be extended — file your PR application the day you receive it.

Once you are selected, CEDC issues a community recommendation certificate. It is the most important piece of paper on this path — and the most time-sensitive.

Six months, no extensions

• The certificate is valid for 6 months from the date of issue and cannot be extended or reissued under any circumstances.
• IRCC takes roughly 3–4 months just to acknowledge receipt, so once the certificate arrives, file immediately — don't lose a day: it must still be valid on the day the complete application is submitted.
• The PR application goes to federal IRCC through the Rural Community Immigration Pilot stream, with spouse and children included.

Start the paperwork early

Medical exams, police certificates (which take a long time in some countries) and passport photos are standard PR documents — start them before the draw result arrives, so errands don't eat the certificate's 6 months. The full list is whatever IRCC currently requires; it isn't repeated here because it would go stale.
