1. What is a hunting license?
A hunting license is a permit issued by the Canadian government that allows the holder to legally hunt in specific areas and during specific times.
Please note that a hunting license and a firearms license (PAL) are two separate permits. If you use a firearm for hunting, you need both a hunting license and a firearms license, but if you use a bow and arrow, you do not need a firearms license.

2. Process for obtaining a hunting license
1. Take a Hunter Education Course
To ensure that hunters understand hunting regulations, safe practices, and hunting ethics, the Canadian government requires hunters to complete a hunter education course before obtaining a hunting license.
The course content includes:
• Hunting regulations and policies
• Wildlife identification and ecological knowledge
• Safe use of rifles and shotguns
• Hunting ethics and environmental protection
After completing the course and passing the exam, you will receive a Hunter Education Certificate, which is a required document for applying for a hunting license.

Once you have an Outdoors Card and the certificate, you can apply to purchase a hunting license:
