Trump launches meme coin, surges 1250% intraday

On January 18, U.S. President-elect Trump posted on his social media account, announcing the launch of his personal Meme coin, TRUMP.

The post said: "Time to celebrate our victory! Join my 'Trump Community'. Get your TRUMP tokens. Have fun!"

Initially, the market suspected his account had been hacked, but then Trump's personal X account also posted the same content.

After the Meme coin went live, the market response was enthusiastic. After Huobi listed the TRUMP token at 17:40, its price surged as much as 1250%, quoted at 21 USDT. CoinGecko data shows that TRUMP coin's market cap reached $4 billion, ranking fourth among Meme coins, with the top three being DOGE, SHIB, and PEPE. It is particularly noteworthy that as a Meme coin, TRUMP's price fluctuates extremely violently, and participating in speculation carries huge risks.

The violent fluctuations in the cryptocurrency market also affected other currencies. Bitcoin surged from around $97,000 per coin to break through $105,000 per coin, then pulled back somewhat, and as of now is still quoted at $104,480 per coin.
