EN: Just a reminder that we have a Monthly Community Thread where we relax the rules about advertising and off-topic posts. * Stuff that isn't directly related to Barrie, like national news or general chit-chat * Questions a - OAS + GIS + withdrawing RDSP bonds/regular CPP should cover the $810 gap, no? OAS alone is already around $750
EN: OAS + GIS + drawing down RDSP bonds / regular CPP should clear that 810 gap shouldn't they? OAS on its own is like 750 already - The "$810 cut" framing is misleading. CPP-D converts to regular CPP retirement benefits at 65, and CDB was always designed to end at 65 because it's a working-age benefit. Meanwhile, if your income is low, you qualify for OAS (about $750) and GIS, which for many fully compensates or exceeds the loss.
EN: The “$810 cut” framing is misleading. CPP-D converts to a regular CPP retirement pension at 65, and the CDB was always designed to end at 65 because it’s a working-age benefit. At the same time you become eligible for OA - Don't sign this nonsense, or they'll push the retirement age to 75 in response
EN: Dont sign this bs or they'll push retirement age to 75 as a response

8. Barrie-Innisfil: Where is our MPP Andrea Khanjin when GO service is being gutted?
Original title in English:Barrie–Innisfil: Where is our MPP, Andrea Khanjin, while GO service gets gutted?
Post summary:It's absolutely frustrating to see our community dealing with major cuts to GO Transit service while our elected representative seems more interested in what's happening in Toronto than answering to the people who elected her here. Starting September 8, GO Transit will make significant changes to Barrie Line service, including cancelling some weekday evening and weekend trips. This continues to gut the Barrie Line, which has seen continuous service reductions since the pandemic and environmental assessments.
